Tilbury Ferry services suspended due to thick fog

A ferry service has been suspended this morning due to thick fog.

Travel on the Tilbury Ferry service which shuttles foot passengers from Gravesend to Tilbury, in Essex, has been suspended until visibility improves.

The operators said it apologised for any inconvenience.

A spokesperson said: "As soon as the fog lifts the service will resume.

"At present we can barely make out the shore from the end of the pier, less than 50m.

"We are hearing that the Thames Barrier has now been reopened to traffic in London so fog is showing signs of lifting."

The service will resume at 1pm from Gravesend and 13.12pm from Tilbury.
