Fire brings sudden end to pop show
18:15, 15 June 2008
A pop concert came to an abrupt end when a fire broke out in a theatre toilet.
The Central Theatre, Chatham, had to be evacuated on Saturday night, as fans of the popular 1970s rock ’n’ roll band Showaddywaddy were enjoying singing along to their heroes on stage.
Theatre staff called Kent Fire and Rescue when a small blaze was discovered and it was decided the best course of action was to bring the concert to an immediate end.
The show featured Sweet and the Rubettes, who also enjoyed number one hits in the 70s.
If you were part of the audience affected by the disruption, you may be entitled to a refund.
