Firefighters tackle Folkestone flat blaze
09:23, 20 October 2012
Firefighters spent over an hour last night tackling a blaze at a flat in Folkestone.
Two engines and an ambulance were called to the property on Bridge Street at about 10.30pm.
It is believed that the fire started in the kitchen, but crews had to use breathing apparatus and hose jets once the fire spread to the front room.
A man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s escaped from the flames before emergency crews arrived.
The pair received first aid from the paramedics as their injuries were not serious enough to go to hospital.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
