IF YOUR pet is getting too fat or has bad breath, you can get free treatment advice during the PDSA’s National PetCheck Week.

The Medway PDSA Petaid hospital, in Campus Way, Gillingham Business Park, is one centre open to domestic pet owners for free health checks for the week of Monday, September 26.

Veterinary nurse Jenny Keen said: “The owner of any domestic pet is eligible to bring their animal here for a free check-over and advice on how to treat problems like obesity and bad breath, for instance.

“We expect to be busy, so I would urge pet owners to phone 01634 376347 and make an appointment.

Radio and TV presenter Johnny Vaughan is urging people to take advantage of the checks. He said: “My bulldog Harvey is my best pal and he makes me laugh at least once a day. His health is very important to me – if he’s not well then I feel bad too.”

PDSA senior veterinary surgeon, Elaine Pendlebury, said: “PDSA National PetCheck Week is an ideal opportunity to ensure pets are in good health and encourages owners who are not registered with a vet, to do so before their pet needs treatment."
