Garry Richards wants to taste promotion success with Gillingham

Gillingham stand-in captain Garry Richards is eager to emulate Chesterfield’s feat after being on the wrong side of the promotion party on Saturday.
While Chesterfield clinched the League 2 title, the Gills were left to lick their wounds after missing out on the play-off positions and a chance for promotion on goal difference.
"It’s going to take time for the disappointment to sink in but we have to try and be positive and start building for next season," said Richards (pictured).
"I have been lucky enough to be in sides which have gained promotion and also been on the other side.
"We saw them celebrating with the champagne and this time next year it’s where we want to be. We will try and get there if we can."
Ultimately the season ended in disappointment for the Gills after they failed to get inside the top seven.
"I don’t think the table lies," said Richards, as he reflected on Gills’ eighth place finish.
"We will probably dwell on it for a couple of weeks then in June we’ll start rebuilding physically and mentally for next season.
"I am really positive that we can get into the promotion places next season."
