Gillingham announce ore-season friendly against Charlton Athletic at Priestfield on August 4
09:57, 18 May 2012
Gillingham have revealed their first pre-season game in 2012, with Charlton Athletic providing the opposition at Priestifeld in early August.
The League 1 champions will visit Gills on Saturday, August 4.
The Gills are in the process of confirming other fixtures, although this has been delayed slightly with no manager in place after the sacking of Andy Hessenthaler last week.
The last competitive meeting between the two sides at Priestfield was in November 2009 when Simeon Jackson's late equaliser gave Gills a 1-1 draw, moments after John Nutter had put through his own net.
The two teams also drew the return fixture in March 2010 with Andy Barcham and Dennis Oli on target for the Gills at The Valley.
The League 2 season gets under way on Saturday, August 18 with the fixtures due to be announced in mid-June.
