Gillingham assistant boss Ian Hendon believes supporters will have plenty to smile about once the club secure the services of new recruits.
The Gills management team are working on numerous deals to bolster the squad ahead of next season with several players expected to be signed prior to pre-season training.
"The fans just need to be patient and I am sure they will be excited by the signings that we eventually make," said Hendon (pictured).
"Talks are on-going and we have spoken to quite a few players.
"We are looking at four or five, maybe a few more. You have to speak to a few and keep a few warm just incase the first one you want doesn’t come off. You have to play the game a bit, as no doubt players do.
"They will probably talk to one club and then another and see what they can get – that’s football.
"We are quietly confident on a few of the lads and hopefully it will come to fruition in the next couple of weeks. The season doesn’t start until August 6 so there is no panic."
