Gillingham benefiting from the consistency and goalscoring contribution of midfielder Curtis Weston
08:46, 08 March 2011
Andy Hessenthaler believes midfielder Curtis Weston is looking too good for League 2 football.
Weston created the opening goal in the 2-0 win against Bradford City on Saturday and scored the second, his third in five games, to cap another excellent performance.
"I am not being disrespectful to this level but he is too good for this level when he is on his day and when he is performing consistently," said Gillingham manager Hessenthaler.
"He knows that and I am just delighted that he is enjoying his football. We are benefiting from that."
Weston (pictured against Bradford) missed a chunk of the season with a thigh injury but has started the last seven games and proved to be a key player.
"He was frustrated earlier in the season because of the injuries he had but he is really finding his form at the moment," said Hessenthaler.

Weston had been used as the attacking midfielder in a diamond formation in earlier matches but at the weekend was pushed further towards the flank to give the Gills some width.
Hessenthaler said: "Curtis wants to link up and get goals and that’s what he is doing at the moment. We put him on the right and he performed very well.
"Like any player it’s about consistency and at the moment he is definitely on top of his game."
