Martin Allen has been named npower League 2 manager-of-the-month for August.
The award comes in recognition of the Gills’ impressive start to the season where last month they won their first three league matches.
Their 100% record included a win on the opening day of the season over Bradford at Priestfield and successive away victories at Wycombe and Dagenham.
A panel of Football League associates decide the final outcome of the awards and among those were former Charlton manager Alan Curbishley.
Curbishley said: “You simply can’t argue with Martin’s impact at Gillingham. A 100% winning record is a great start and the away wins are a good indication that they could well challenge for promotion this year.”
Allen, speaking about his nomination on Thursday morning, said: “It is fantastic news and great for everyone at the club. The staff, the players, the supporters, the board, the chairman. It’s my name on it but it’s everyone else who makes it happen.”
