Having passed the 600 career appearances mark last month, Gillingham defender Matt Lawrence has expressed his desire to stay at Priestfield beyond this summer.
The 36-year-old central defender (pictured), who won the supporters’ player-of-the-month accolade for February, has settled in well with the Gills and would like to stick around.
He said: "I could see myself here next year. I think I have done OK.

"It took a little bit of time to settle into this division but in the last 15-20 games, I think I have proved to people I can play and I am not too old.
"If everything goes right, I see myself here but I can’t predict the future. I don’t see why I can’t play at this level for another year or two.
"I love playing football and at some point I will go and play Sunday League with my mates, that’s no problem.
"I started off playing Sunday League when I was 15 so there is no reason why I won’t go back."
