Gillingham fans have seen their side go 12 games unbeaten, and after seeing their side earn their seventh successive away draw the fans considered it a point won in their push for promotion to League 1.

"Not the best of performances and at full-time it felt like a point gained rather than two dropped. Apart from the closing stages, when we put Burton under pressure, we looked poor.

"The defence was everywhere with holes appearing at will and we seemed intent on playing long balls up the pitch for the majority of the game.

"It was a great goal by Cody McDonald to secure a point but we can play a lot better. The Burton goal was a free header in the middle of the box – what happened to the marking?

"If Andy Hessenthaler and the squad want to challenge for the automatic promotion places we have to start turning draws into wins. The play-off picture is also getting close, with the teams around us having a game in hand."

SAM LIVINGSTONE

"Another draw away from home and one game less to try and catch up with Wycombe and Bury.

"However, travelling away from the Pirelli Stadium it was hard not to feel satisfied on a day when we had picked up another vital point, not losing ground to anyone in the play-off picture with Port Vale, Bury and Rotherham losing and draws all around. Automatic promotion is still very much on.

"I don’t think that we played to anywhere near our capability and why John Nutter was playing ahead of Joe Martin we will never know!

"Our main weakness seems to be our full-backs as we have conceded so many goals from crosses and corners and that will be something to work on in the summer.

"It was the usual story in terms of player performance as Jack Payne was everywhere and committed, Adebayo Akinfenwa up-front put his weight around and Cody McDonald grabbed a superb goal to take his tally to 20 for the season.

"A point gained, rather than two dropped, in my opinion."

RICHARD PEPPER

"A draw away from home is not usually regarded as a poor result, unfortunately we are in a position where only wins will do as the pack chases us with games in hand.

"This was another opportunity to close the gap on third place with teams around us all dropping points.

"We had periods of posession but were unable to do anything with it.

"On the day a point was all either side deserved, but it felt like all three were there for the taking."

BURTON FAN

"Although I predicted a 2-1 victory for Burton I would have taken a point if offered it.

"Two points dropped or a point gained? Given our league position this was definitely a point gained against a Gillingham side in the play-offs and unbeaten in 12.

"Had Burton put their first-half chances away it could have been a different story, but in fairness we were maybe fortunate to have a clean sheet at the break, Russell Penn and Scott Malone both clearing goalbound efforts off the line.

"It took a quality finish from Cody McDonald to grab a point, and I wouldn’t argue with anyone who says that it was the least the Gills deserved.

"Adebayo Akinfenwa was a handful all afternoon but on the whole Tony James and Darren Moore kept him at a safe distance.

"Injury meant we finished with 10 men and ended up hanging on rather than looking for a winner. We have players coming back from injury, so should be all right for the run-in. Its going to be nervy, though."
