Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler is demanding his side turn in a performance that the fans can be proud of.

The Gills were disappointing on home turf last time out, losing to lowly Dagenham and the manager wants a big improvement on Saturday.

Visitors Swindon need just a point to wrap up promotion from League 2 while the Gills need a win to stand any chance of making the play-offs.

Hessenthaler (pictured) said: "We know what we have to do and we have nothing to lose – we have to go for it.

"They are going to be promoted and rightly so. Hopefully we can spoil that party at the weekend.

"We have slipped up at home of late. The first half of the season wasn’t bad but in the second half we haven’t won enough games.

"Whether that is expectation levels or players not holding their nerve and being unable to handle the situation, I don’t know but we haven’t done enough at home.

"The tempo of our play and the real desire at home, that you need to get results, is something we haven’t shown.

"If we give everything to the end and just miss out, like we did last year, yes we will be disappointed but we won’t have gone out on a whim."

Hessenthaler is hopeful of having a few players back from injury. Charlie Lee, Danny Jackman and goalkeeper Ross Flitney are back training, as is Curtis Weston, although he is still short of fitness.
