Andy Hessenthaler admits keeping every one of his squad members happy isn’t going to be easy.

Gills boss Hessenthaler, with a squad of 27, has so far made just one change to his starting XI in five games.

Despite sending some of the younger squad players out on loan, he doesn’t want to see any of his more experienced men leave.

"I want to keep players with us because I know how things can change," said Hessenthaler (pictured).

"You only have to pick up a few injuries and having let players out on loan all of a sudden we kick ourselves in the foot.

"We need to be careful, although I am also mindful and do respect the senior players. They need to play games and the balance has to be right.

"At the moment I am not looking for anyone to go out on loan. I would keep them together but things will change because you can’t keep everyone happy."

The likes of Matt Fish, Luke Rooney, Dennis Oli, Danny Jackman and Garry Richards all face a tough fight to win a place in the team. That class in reserve is something Hessenthaler believes makes them a stronger prospect.

He said: "We have depth because we brought on the subs in Dennis Oli and Luke Rooney (on Saturday) and we were better for that with the fresh legs. They are chomping at the bit to get on."
