Gillingham manager Martin Allen takes his team to Gillingham's Strand for a splash
09:32, 09 July 2012
Gillingham players will certainly know to expect the unexpected after the first few days of Martin Allen’s pre-season training.
The Gills players enjoyed an impromptu outdoor pool-session on Friday lunchtime when the new boss took them to The Strand Leisure Park in Gillingham.
These exclusive pictures, by KM Group photographer Barry Goodwin, show the squad during their 15-minute workout, designed to boost team bonding and give Allen an insight into the mentality of the squad he has inherited.
Allen and assistant manager John Schofield also got involved with the session in the pool.
The Gills manager already surprised his troops by cutting short his introduction meeting on Thursday afternoon so they could head to training and with a four-day trip to France on Thursday – complete with mini-buses – who knows what awaits the players this week?
