Dennis Oli is thrilled to be back among the Gillingham first team squad for the end of season run-in and believes there is nothing now holding him back.
Oli (pictured) has struggled with hamstring problems all season, restricting him to just four starts but now hopes that his injury woes could be a thing of the past.
He has been on a rehab programme to strengthen a problematic hamstring and is starting to feel the benefits.
He said: "It’s fantastic to be back and I am starting to feel really fit. I am feeling good and sharper in training. It’s coming along well.
"It’s been a nightmare season but the hamstring is the strongest it has been.
"I tore the hamstring and when you are coming back, it is in your mind. You subconsciously hold back because you are thinking, ‘it’s going to go again’ but with the rehab and strengthening work I have been doing, it is not in my mind anymore."
Oli has had to make do with brief substitute appearances since his latest comeback from injury and on Saturday it was his assist that set up Cody McDonald to score the equaliser at Burton.
"I felt sharp on Saturday and now I just have to keep working hard in training and doing the best I can," he added.
"The boys are doing well and I am just there for when the manager is ready to call upon me. That’s all you can do."
