GILLINGHAM FC striker Marlon King today appeared before magistrates in London accused of assaulting a police officer. The 21-year-old was arrested on September 23 after an incident in Streatham which allegedly ended with a plain clothes policeman being hit on the head with a beer bottle.
Mr King, of Surrey Road, Peckham, was charged last week with causing actual bodily harm, drink driving, taking a vehicle without consent and driving without insurance.
Today Mr King appeared before Camberwell Green magistrates, speaking only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. The case was adjourned until November 8. Mr King was granted unconditional bail.
