Hail and heavy rain on the way
16:18, 14 April 2008
Drivers are being warned to take extra care on the drive home tonight as heavy rainfall and hail showers are predicted.
The Met Office is predicting bad weather across the south east and east of England and the Highways Agency is warning that hail, heavy rain and spray can reduce visibility and double stopping distances.
Drivers are advised to move slowly through any standing water and test their brakes once they're through before continuing to drive. If your vehicle loses its grip, take your foot off the accelerator to slow down and do not brake or steer suddenly.
For up-to-date information check the Agency website at http://www.highways.gov.uk or call 08457 504030.
