Young Kent player Sam Billings entered the Shepherd Neame Kent League record books after a superb batting performance on Saturday.

The 20-year-old wicketkeeper/batsman (pictured) smashed 208 for Hartley in their match with Lordswood - the highest ever score in the Premier Division's 50-over win/lose format, the first round of which for this season began on Saturday.

Billings dominated the Hartley innings as they made 379-8 and Lordswood were never in the hunt when they replied.

Only 20 points separate the top seven teams and fourth-placed Bexley are just eight points behind the leaders after their eight-run success over Tunbridge Wells at the Nevill. Skipper Jack Bell (84 not out) top scored for Bexley in their 208 all out and although opener Alex Williams (85) led the home run chase, it wasn't quite enough.

The Mote remain rooted to the bottom after their 102-run defeat by Bickley Park. Abhijit Kale (93) and skipper Chris Coulson (90) enabled Park to post a target of 251-9 skipper and then, Tom Harvey (87) apart, The Mote produced another disappointing batting display as they were bowled out for 149.

Second-from-bottom Sibton Park lost a tense affair at home to Blackheath by nine runs. However they had looked on course for a much-needed victory when Blackheath slid to 88-7 until No 9 Jahid Ahmed (42) inspired a late revival which lifted the visitors to 189 all out. The Lyminge side then suffered a similar collapse to 71-6 and although Steve Hickmott (67 not out) gave them fresh hope, they were eventually dismissed for 176.
