Health and safety award for council

BROMLEY council has scooped a regional award for its approach to improving health and safety in the construction industry.
It has set up an online database of resources and training to raise the culture of safety and reduce injuries and fatalaties.
The pioneering initiative helped it win the gong at the London and south east awards ceremony, organised by Constructing Excellence and the South East Centre for the Built Environment.
Council Chief Executive Doug Patterson said: “Public organisations are responsible for much of the government infrastructure, from building new roads to the maintenance of the local leisure centre.
“Winning this award confirms that we are on target with meeting this need, which we hope will move all public organisation towards safer construction environments.”
The council will no go through to the national final later this month
