Houmous products are being pulled from the shelves of eight leading supermarkets across Kent amid a salmonella scare.

A total of 85 brands have been included in the recall, which is based on an alert issued by The Food Standards Agency.

Asda, Morrisons, Aldi, Sainsbury's, Iceland, Lidl, Safeway, Spar, Nandos and John Lewis have been affected, along with food producers The Real Deli, and Zorba.

The Food Standards Agency said: "The products listed might be contaminated with salmonella.

"Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps."

Customers are being urged not to eat any of the products blacklisted and to return them to the store where they were bought for a refund.

Zorba Delicacies Limited, which supplies the products, says point of sale notices have been displayed in all retail stores selling the items.
