I want to get promoted with Gillingham, says Lewis Montrose

Lewis Montrose will be aiming for another season like the last after joining League 2 promotion-hopefuls Gillingham.
The 22-year-old midfielder played a big part in Wycombe’s promotion from the same division last season but found himself out of contract after the club surprisingly released him.
Montrose, who came through Premier League Wigan’s youth academy, isn’t bothered by the past and is just focusing on succeeding in a Gills shirt.
“I was part of a promotion winning squad but now there is a new challenge ahead of me and I want to get promoted with Gillingham.
“It was out of my hands (being released) and all I want to do it play football. I have been given a great opportunity to come to Gillingham and it’s a massive club.

“When I spoke to the manager he was very enthusiastic about this coming season and I wanted to be part of that. I am ambitious myself and I want to improve on my career. I am still young and hopefully I can get promoted and then play at a higher level.
“I played 35 games and quite a big part for Wycombe but that’s history now. This is a new season, a new beginning, I’m at Gillingham now and I am very excited for the new season and I hope we can get promoted as well.
“I think from what I have seen so far we have a good squad and some good players. Hopefully I can be part of the team that is pushing next season.
