Kent MP Ann Widdecombe has said she is listening to those calling for an interim Speaker of the House of Commons.
In an exclusive interview with kmfm's Susan Hilder, the Maidstone and Weald backbencher said she would consider standing as Michael Martin's replacement - but only for the short term.
Speaking after this week's announcement, she said: "I am not in the frame for a long-term solution.

"But if there was a movement for an interim solution - for someone to clean up the mess and then hand over - then all I can say is I am listening."
