I may have scored six goals in 10 games since I arrived at Charlton but I haven’t been entirely happy with my performances – and, of course, no-one is happy with our recent form.
We are working hard to halt our run of defeats to get back to winning ways. And no-one at the club believes the season is over yet.
We have certainly slipped down the table but we’re by no means out of the running for those play-off places.
It needs a good run but the fact that we’ve still to play many of our rivals means that if we go on a good run we will also be hurting our opponents.
We will have to cut out the silly mistakes we are making which are allowing other clubs to score, though.
That’s been our problem. It’s not like we’re getting thrashed out of sight but we’re making errors to give chances to the other teams. If we can cut that out, we can get back on track.
Despite my goals, I still think there’s more to come from me in terms of my overall displays. I’m still getting used to how Charlton play – it’s different to what I was used to at Plymouth Argyle – and it will take time for me to adapt my game. But as long as I’m scoring, I guess I can’t complain too much.
One goal I definitely claimed was against Tranmere Rovers earlier this month, even though most people have reported it was Miguel Llera’s.
I don’t think people realised at the time but his free-kick was probably going wide and I managed to poke it in and he later came over to me during training and admitted it was mine.
Unfortunately, I could have had a couple more as well but one shot rebounded off the bar against Hartlepool United last month and I missed a penalty against Notts County.
I must admit that the latter was a rubbish effort. I tried to relax before I took it. Maybe I was too relaxed, because I didn’t get any power behind it.
Make no mistake, though, if we win another penalty and I’m on the pitch, I’ll be desperate to take it.
One thing I should report is that I’m settled at the club. I feel like I’ve been here for longer than a couple of months, and that’s credit to the boys for helping me find my feet.
When results start to go our way, I’m sure that feeling will be even better.
