International bowlers coming to Thanet
16:37, 18 September 2007
TWO England internationals who have both won world singles titles are coming to the Thanet Indoor Bowls Centre at Cliftonville on Thursday, October 4.
They are Andy Thomson, a well-known member of the Cyphers club in north Kent, and Ely-based Greg Harlow, who will be spearheading a recruitment drive for the centre from 10am to 4pm.
Potential new bowlers of all ages are welcome, to attend for free coaching and with essential equipment provided.
During the afternoon 38-year-old Harlow, who recently won the world match play championship in Sheffield for a fourth successive year, will stage an exhibition match with his colleague.
Centre director Cliff Mackey said: "This is the first time two players of this calibre have ever appeared here together and it’s a red-letter occasion for us.
"I am confident they will attract a very good crowd and an enjoyable day for all concerned should give our membership a valuable boost."
