More than 90 candidates will be vying for your votes across Kent’s 17 parliamentary constituencies at the general election.

The deadline for nominations closed yesterday and, as expected, the main parties will contest all the Kent seats, which are all currently held by the Conservatives.

Labour is fielding entirely new candidates in all bar one constituency - Maidstone and the Weald.

UKIP is standing in all but two seats.

It is not contesting Sittingbourne and Sheppey, where its candidate withdrew at the last minute following a row over comments he had made about the party's leadership.

And it controversially decided that it would not stand in Canterbury because of the Conservative candidate’s position on Europe.

The Green party is fielding candidates in all the county’s constituencies, having failed to persuade the Liberal Democrats and Labour to put forward “progressive alliance” candidates to oust sitting Conservatives.

The Christian People's Alliance, a party which stands for Christian values in politics, is the most notable minority party contesting seats in Kent.

As usual there is a sprinkling of independent candidates and the constituency with the highest number of candidates is Folkestone and Hythe, with seven.
