Invicta Dynamos had a weekend to forget in the English National Ice Hockey League South Division 1.

On Saturday their home game with the Cardiff ENL Devils was abandoned after 35 minutes when the Welsh side refused to continue the match, and 24 hours later Dynamos slipped to a 9-3 defeat at league leaders Romford Raiders.

Saturday's game was abandoned when Cardiff refused to return to the ice after the match referee had called an unscheduled halt to the action.

That followed a number of stormy incidents which included a spectator becoming involved in an altercation with the Devils' bench and a player brawl involving a total of 10 players.

Then, whilst resurfacing of the ice was being attempted, the ENL Devils proved uncooperative and so the referee, W Hewitt dispatched both sides to their respective dressing rooms. Cardiff then refused to reappear and the referee abandoned the game.

Dynamos must now await the decision of the English Ice Hockey Association with regards to the outcome of the fixture.

On Sunday, with a number of their players automatically suspended because of what had happened the previous evening, Dynamos endured a miserable first period at Romford as the home side powered into a 5-0 lead.

Dynamos pulled two goals back in the second period through defenceman Adam Copland and Harrison Lillis with his first senior strike for the club, and although Justin Noble also added a third in the final frame, the Raiders wrapped up their fourth win over Invicta this season with a further four goals.
