COULD Gillingham Football Club's Iffy Onuora be Britain's Brainiest Footballer? His fellow players and the club supporters will find out next Wednesday night, January 30, when the 34-year-old Bradford University economics graduate will be seen pitting his wits against footballers past and present.
They include England World Cup winner George Cohen, former Scotland international Alan Brazil, ex-Newcastle legend Malcolm MacDonald plus Clarke Carlisle of Queens Park Rangers and Macclesfield's Lee Glover.
The ITV programme, Britain's Brainiest Footballer, hosted by Carole Vorderman, was filmed a week ago at Elstree Studios but the Gillingham striker declined to disclose the winner.
"I took my family and we all had a great time filming the show," said Onuora. "But I don't think it would be right to announce the outcome. What I do know is that I'm going to get a lot of stick in the Gillingham dressing room once this gets out."
The Gills striker is no stranger to television, having appeared on the Food and Drink programme last year.
