Island remembers war heroes

Former servicemen and women from across the country headed to the Island for this year’s Wildfire III parade.
The annual event, organised by the Queenborough and District Naval Ensign Association remembers those who gave their lives on the minesweeper based in Queenborough during the Second World War.
The parade, led by the 17th Tonbridge Scouts and Guides’ Marching Band, set off from Holy Trinity Church and headed to Queenborough Park where a memorial service was held.
Janet Flew, association secretary, said: “It went very well and thankfully the weather held out for the parade and service.
