Jail for man who mugged and ran over pensioner

A MAN has been jailed for life after being found guilty of murdering a Gravesend pensioner.
Joseph Jameson, 52, of Shorts Way, Rochester, admitted robbing Thirza Smith of her handbag and causing death by dangerous driving as he tried to make his escape last December.
Sentencing Jameson at Maidstone Crown Court, Judge Andrew Patience recommended that he should serve at least 20 years.
