A weather warning has been issued for heavy rain on New Year's Day.
Forecasters say up to 40mm of rain could fall on Wednesday over some of the region's south-facing coasts.
Wind could also gust to 50 to 60mph, with warnings given of flooding.
Today there were 10 flood alerts covering Kent, including the Medway, Stour, Darent and Teise rivers.
A Met Office spokesman said there were some uncertainties over where the rain could hit on New Year's Day, but it would be heavy at times and spread quickly north eastwards.
