Some of the most famous examples of landmarks in the county appearing on screens include Dover Castle the Netflix series The Crown and Hever Castle in the 2008 show Inkheart.
Chatham Historic Dockyard is also one of the filming hotspots with shows such as Call the Midwife and Foyle's War being filmed there.
Gabrielle Lindemann from the Kent Film Office said: "I'm absolutely delighted because it's putting us on top of a very prestigious list, headed up by the home counties.
"I think it's really, really great for Kent. We've always thought Kent has a lot to offer in terms of landscapes.
"There is a variety of modern landscapes, as well as wonderful heritage and we also have the Kent Film Office set up to help productions.
"As well as the heritage productions, we're getting quite a lot of younger shows and music videos where they're looking for the slightly bleaker landscapes.
"Being top of the list is really great because it's super promotion for Kent but every single one of those films, when they do come here, spend a lot of money here."
Last year alone £5.4million was pumped into the Kent economy through filming activity, according to the Kent Film Office.
After Kent, the second-most popular county in England to be chosen for filming was Buckinghamshire where Sherlock Holmes and Downtown Abbey were filmed, according to IMDb.
The data was collected after analysing IMDb's filming locations page for the places where films and TV series were shot, excluding film studios.
