Kent woman Violet Woods becomes Britain's oldest at 111
09:28, 21 March 2011
A Whitstable woman aged 111 has become the oldest person in the UK.
Violet Woods was pictured in September celebrating her birthday with five generations of her family at St Martins Care Home, Joy Lane, in September.
And now she's got another reason to celebrate after inheriting the title.
It follows the death of Margaret Fish, from Bedfordshire, who passed away five days after turning 112.
The oldest person in the world is Besse Cooper, 114, of USA.
