Around eight in 10 Kent drivers surveyed failed roadworthy test

More than eight in 10 drivers in Kent surveyed about their driving are not roadworthy, according to new data.
Some 7,144 motorists from across the county were surveyed by Halfords by taking a quiz to see if they had fallen into bad habits. A total of 84% failed the test.
One of the questions asks "which one of these is an illegal act and could land you with a hefty penalty?".

The multiple choice answers given are paying with a smartphone at a drive thru; eating while driving or having an open bottle of beer in your car.
A staggering 62% of Kent drivers failed to answer the question correctly.
Some 63% of motorists in the county are still unaware of the legal drink driving limit in England and Wales.
Ryan Vince from Halfords said: "The research has led to some eye-opening results.
"For example, it's worrying that 64% of Kent drivers don't know the maximum fine for speeding and 61% of drivers were in the dark about the rules for worn tyres which could land them with a hefty fine.
"Whilst light-hearted, our test helps to reinforce and remind motorists of key roadworthy basics, whether they're new or experienced."
