Number of unemployed people in Kent rises by 8,740 in a year

Unemployment in Kent has risen every month for the past year.
Figures out today show 29,755 people claimed unemployment benefits last month.
This is 8,740 more than July last year, when 21,015 people were claiming either jobseekers allowance or universal credit.
And in the space of a month, the number has risen by 825.
All 13 of the county's districts have seen their dole queues grow in the last month.
Medway has seen the largest increase between June and July, rising by 165.
According to the Office of National Statistics, a total of 5,290 were recorded as being unemployed in the area last month.
Next up was Canterbury, with 100 people joining the list.
The smallest increase was in Folkestone and Hythe, rising from 2,210 to 2,215.
Men continue to claim more unemployment benefits than women - 17,200 compared to 12,560.
The number of people out of work across the UK is estimated at 3.9%, which is a little lower than a year earlier, at 4%.
