The fire was causing long tailbacks but traffic conditions returned to normal by 11am.

Two fire engines and a bulk water carrier are on the scene on the M25 anti-clockwise carriageway between junction 5 for the M26 and junction 4 for Orpington.

The vehicle will be moved by Highways England along with help from fire and rescue crews and police to a nearby depot.

This means the clockwise carriageway, between junctions 4 and 5, will be closed for a short time to allow the lorry to be moved.

Once at the depot, firefighters worked to dampen down the tightly packed waste.

Police officers were called at 9.12am and closed the motorway to allow Kent Fire and Rescue Service to safely tackle the fire.

No injuries were reported.
