Man accused of Swain murder

DAVID Cheetham, 43, of Hazelmere Drive, Gillingham, appeared before magistrates on Saturday morning, charged with the murder of Martin Swain, 44, of Gillingham Road, Gillingham.
Mr Swain, found with head injuries in Richmond Road just after 1am on Thursday, July 18, died in Medway Maritime Hospital. He had previously worked as a welder and leaves three sons aged 11, 18 and 22.
Cheetham, who was represented by Chris Simpson, was remanded in custody until a date set to appear at Maidstone Crown Court. A 23-year-old from Strood has been released on police bail.
