A MAN was beaten and kicked to the ground by a gang as he walked along Margate seafront with his girlfriend and another woman. The 22-year-old victim, from Newport, South Wales, needed hospital treatment to facial injuries following the unprovoked assault.

Police say that when his girlfriend and a passer-by tried to intervene they were also assaulted. The attack happened at 1.40am on Saturday at Marine Terrace. A 24-year-old Margate man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
