A patient at Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, has died after falling from a first floor window.

The patient, thought to be a man, suffered multiple injuries. The incident took place just after 1pm on Sunday.

A spokesman for Medway NHS Foundation Trust said: "The hospital's Accident and Emergency team did everything they could to save the patient’s life but unfortunately he died a few hours later.

"The Trust expresses its deepest sympathies to the patient's family and friends."

Police were informed of the incident but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman for Medway Police said: "We are not treating this death as suspicious and there is no evidence of third party involvement."
