Kent has been issued with a weather warning for tomorrow - with heavy thundery downpours expected.

Some parts of the county are due up to 30mm of rain in an hour, which is likely to cause poor driving conditions and flooding.

After mainly dry and sunny weather in Kent today, Met Office forecasters said warm and humid air moving north would bring a change in conditions.

Heavy, thundery rain or showers are set to develop, isolated at first overnight but becoming more widespread during Saturday morning.

Forecasters said the showers could be torrential in places and accompanied by hail and lightning.

A Met Office spokesman said: "The public should be aware of the potential for localised flooding due to the intensity of the downpours.

"They could produce in excess of 20mm of rain in an hour, with one or two places seeing more than 40mm within two or three hours, with localised flooding a possibility."

People planning picnics or barbecues are advised to wait until Sunday, when drier conditions are expected to spread from the south.

Sunday is set to bring sunny spells and only isolated showers developing during the afternoon.
