Midfielder Kevin Maher wants to stay at Gillingham, but only if the terms are right

Kevin Maher is keen to stay on at Gillingham but admits that the deal has to be right.
The Gills are keen to conclude contract talks with last year’s squad but Maher, pictured, has yet to decide whether to sign on the dotted line.
Boss Andy Hessenthaler has already admitted terms this season won’t be as good as before and it is something last season’s key midfield anchorman must consider.
In just over a month, Maher will become a father for the first time and the decision he makes will be an important one.
Maher said: "My agent is speaking to the chairman at the moment to see what we can do. I’m in no rush. I would like to stay and hopefully I can do so.
"Fingers crossed, because I would be delighted to be at Gillingham again. If it is right I am happy to sign."
Maher is not a player who likes to change clubs regularly. He spent 10 years at Southend prior to a loan stint with Gills and a year at Oldham. He has been at Priestfield for the last two seasons.
"I don’t like moving about too much," said the Essex-based 34-year-old.
"You probably find your best form when you stay at the club and get to know everyone and the place around you."
