Ryman League Premier Division champions Dartford celebrated their success with a 1-0 win at Harrow Borough on Tuesday night.
Allan Tait's first half goal ensured Darts are 16 points clear of second-placed Kingstonian and still boast three games in hand.
Maidstone United boosted their survival chances with a 3-1 win over Waltham Abbey at Homelands.
James Peacock opened the scoring on four minutes and Antonio Gonnella doubled the advantage on 31 minutes and despite Jermaine Darlington being sent-off six minutes into the second-half, the Stones held on to end a run of six successive defeats.
Fourth-bottom Stones are a point adrift of Ashford Town (Middx) and Carshalton, and have a worse goal difference, but do have a game in hand on both sides.
Ryman League Division 1 South title-chasing Folkestone Invicta crashed to a 1-0 defeat to Whyteleafe at the Buzzlines Stadium on Tuesday night, but would have been glad to find that leaders Croydon only extended their lead at the top by a point after a goalless draw at Burgess Hill.
Invicta now lie five points behind Croydon with a game in hand and a game between the two sides scheduled for next Tuesday at Folkestone.
Ramsgate also played-out their third stalemate in a row at home to play-off-chasing Godalming at Southwood to stay 12th. Luke Wheatley came closest for the Rams with a header against the post.
Whitstable Town moved out of the relegation zone after coming from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with promotion-hopefuls Worthing at KRBS Belmont.
Incredibly Gary Sayer scored two own-goals in four minutes to put the visitors 2-0 ahead but Ian Pulman puleld one back from the spot before half-time.
The visitors restored a two-goal advantage on 55 minutes but Pulman scrambled a second before Dan Wisker headed home inside the last five minutes to seal an unlikely point.
They now lie a point ahead of second-bottom Walton Casuals, and four clear of basement-boys Eastbourne, and have two games in hand over the bottom two.
Ashford Town slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Metropolitan Police on Monday night as their heavy schedule begins to take its toll.
Phil Ruggles’ speculative seventh-minute strike eluded Town goalkeeper Darren Ibrahim to give the Police the lead and for all their efforts, the Nuts and Bolts couldn’t find an answer.
