Thousands more people are tuning into kmfm, official figures released today have revealed.

The station, which broadcasts exclusively from Kent, has seen its audience grow for the second successive quarter.

And the figures from industry body RAJAR show kmfm is the only commercial FM station in its area to record an increase, with competitor stations all losing listeners.

People are also tuning into kmfm to hear Kent's biggest hits for longer, with average listening times increasing by 5% on the previous quarter.

KM Group managing director Richard Elliot said: "We are delighted more and more people are tuning into kmfm.

"It's been a really exciting time for the station - we've sent listeners to see some of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole and Ed Sheeran, as well as giving them the chance to walk away with £500 in our hugely popular 10 in 30 game during breakfast every weekday.

"These figures cover the period up to September 2012, and since then we have seen even more exciting developments at the station, which have helped make sure we sound better than ever.

"Emma Saint has joined our breakfast team, teaming up with Rob Wills to ensure Kent wakes up with a smile every morning.

"As part of the KM Group, kmfm has news reporters at offices across the county and we're bringing the news that really matters to our listeners in our new, extended 1pm bulletin."

The figures also show listening in the core 25 to 44-year-old age group has increased by 35% while listening time in the west of the county is up by a huge 34%.
