Muggers slash victim's face

00:00, 22 March 2002

A 40-YEAR-OLD man needed hospital treatment after his face was slashed by muggers. The man was walking past the synagogue in Albion Road, Cliftonville, near Margate, at about 10.40pm on Sunday when he saw two men sitting in a car.

As he drew level, they jumped out and pinned him against a garage door. One of the men took out a knife and held it to his cheek.

They demanded cash, and the victim handed them £80. The man with the knife then slashed the man’s left cheek, and they made off.

Police are asking for witnesses to come forward. Both thugs were aged between 35 and 40 with black hair, and one was described as stocky.
