Newington Primary pupils perform in panto

A cast of pantoland characters took centre stage at Newington community primary school for the first ever production by the drama club.
Pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 acted out the magical story of Jacquelina and the Beanstalk, which they have adapted from one of Roald Dahl's 'Revolting Rhymes.'
Fun, songs and audience participation formed part of the show. Costumes were made by teaching assistant Carol Sayer, and the production was directed by assistant head teacher Helen Radford and literacy co-ordinator and Year 6 teacher Ellen Butcher.
Helen said: "This was the pupils' first Christmas panto since the drama club was formed. They worked very hard in a short space of time to get the production together and huge credit goes to the actors and the stage and lighting crew who have all done a wonderful job in creating a fantastic festive show."
