Maidstone United will travel to Margate in the FA Trophy first qualifying round after winning a seven-goal thriller at Needham Market on Saturday.

Of the eight Kent clubs involved in the weekend’s Trophy ties, seven remain in the competition. Only the Stones had to travel outside county but the trip to Suffolk brought the best out of them.

A Tim Olorunda goal, sandwiched between two Paul Booth strikes, fired Maidstone into a 3-1 half-time lead. Booth completed his hat-trick after the break and although Needham kept fighting, the visitors held on to win 4-3.

Manager Jay Saunders will now take the Stones to face his former club at Hartsdown Park on September 29.

Meanwhile, Chatham Town knocked out Herne Bay as they won the Kent derby 2-0 at Winch’s Field.

Rodrigue Ndiane and Jack Pallen scored the goals which sent the Chats through to a home tie against either Folkestone Invicta or Merstham.

Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Cheriton Road means Invicta must travel to Merstham for a replay on Tuesday night.

Having managed just two goals in four league games, Sittingbourne suddenly found their shooting boots in a 4-0 win over Horsham at Bourne Park.

Nick Davis, Hicham Akhazzan and Joe Nwoko struck inside the first half-hour and Akhazzan’s second goal, two minutes before the end, rubber-stamped a trip to Hitchin Town in the next round.

Hythe Town won by the same scoreline against Ware at Reachfields. Brendon Cass scored twice, with Dave Cook and Nick Reeves completing the rout.

Next up for Scott Porter’s side is a trip to Ryman League Premier Division side Hampton & Richmond Borough.

At Salters Lane, Adrian Stone came off the bench to bag an 83rd-minute winner for Faversham Town against AFC Sudbury. The 1-0 win means the Lilywhites will host Leatherhead next.

Thamesmead Town could yet face local rivals Cray Wanderers in different knockout competitions on consecutive Saturdays after Ashley Probets’ late penalty earned them a 1-1 draw at home to Burgess Hill Town.

Drawn away to Cray in the FA Cup second qualifying round, Thamesmead will host Wanderers in the Trophy a week later if they can win Tuesday’s replay in West Sussex.

In Ryman League Division 1 South, Ramsgate were 3-2 winners at Three Bridges. Four goals were shared in the opening 19 minutes, with Curtis Robinson and Ian Pulman on target for the visitors.

With eight minutes remaining, Tom Chapman scored to win the game for the Rams, who were already assured of a home tie in the Trophy. Waltham Forest’s win over Cheshunt means they will be the visitors to Southwood.

Goals from Jake Beecroft and Scott Heard handed Whitstable Town their first win of the season at the expense of Eastbourne Town. The 2-0 win lifts the Osytermen to 16th in the table.

A home tie against Harrow Borough awaits Justin Luchford’s side in the FA Trophy on September 29.

Meanwhile, Margate are top of the Ryman League Premier Division after Carl Rook and Tommy Murphy netted in their 2-0 win over Enfield Town at Hartsdown Park.

Elsewhere in the division, Cray were denied victory in the last minute at Lewes. Michael Power and Leigh Bremner put the visitors 2-0 up but Lewes fought back to salvage a 2-2 draw.
