Now Hear This - by kmfm's Johnny Lewis
11:11, 16 September 2009
Saturday mornings will take on a new look on the airwaves from your favourite local radio station.
Yes, the lad Lewis will be getting your weekend off with a bang from now on with an all new breakfast show for Thanet.
I will be taking over the slot from this Saturday from Bob Mower who moves to a countywide late night weekday show and also a Sunday afternoon slot for kmfm. I would like to say a big thank you to Bob for keeping the people of Thanet entertained on Saturday breakfast for more than a year.
For me it will be the chance to extend my weekday breakfast show and we have got some great ideas planned. You will get the usual mix of great music, news and travel (plus all sorts of Lewis and listeners mayhem) that you know and love. But we will be bringing you a range of special guests, have regular slots from soccer managers Terry Yorath and Jim Ward who will discuss the fortunes of Margate and Ramsgate FC respectively; and journalist Peter Barnett who worked with Bob on his Saturday show, will be joining me to look at the news behind the headlines from the last week in Thanet and to preview what's on in and around the area this weekend and in the week ahead.
It should be great fun and we are all looking forward to it - don't forget to join us and be part of the Thanet Saturday show.
Meanwhile, interest in The Vinyl Years continues to grow and readers of this column have responded brilliantly to suggestions that we have themed shows from time to time, looks at musical styles such as prog rock, blues, reggae, punk, hard rock, pop and so on. And some ideas I am considering from you include the Merseybeat years and Brit girls.
Keep mailing me with your ideas for the themed shows and include your top five songs reflecting your theme and I will try to play some of them.
