We’re looking forward to another home game this weekend and we’ll have to make sure we’re on our mettle again if we want to pick up some points as Oldham have a decent away record.

The game gives us a good chance to climb the table. We believe we’re in a position which doesn’t show our ability at the moment and we’ll be going all out to make sure we prove ourselves right.

We will be missing Jacko and Barry Fuller because of international call-up and suspension respectively which is a blow but with our squad we have more than enough options to cover them and still have a strong side out.

Another home win last weekend was the perfect tonic to the unfortunate last-minute defeat the previous weekend. It also gave us revenge against the team which stole the points that night - Southend.

It’s obvious to everyone that our home form is outstanding and when our away form kicks in, I think you will see us in a healthy league position.

Saturday’s game didn’t start as we would have planned with Jacko missing his spot kick.

That doesn’t happen very often and you start to think it might be one of those days but shortly after the miss, Westy linked up well with the new boy Fab and slotted in a lovely goal to set us on our way.

That was the start of a great debut for Febian as he went on to score the next goal, after getting to the near post and tucking in smartly, to make it
2-0 before the break.

With Febian and Jacko, we probably have the smallest strike force in the history of League 1 but they are both clever players and their height is no disadvantage to either of them.

We polished off the game with a great far post header from Benno which topped off a good performance.

We now have a home draw against a side in the division below - Burton Albion - which is something we should be pleased with but cautious as to how we approach it.

We must go into the game with the same attitude we have shown all year at home. That will give us a great chance of getting to the third round where we could meet another big side like we did last year.

Mark Bentley has been given the player-of-the-month this month and he fully deserves it. He has played a few positions for us but has been playing well wide right recently and I’m pleased that he has been recognised for his endeavour and he capped it with a goal this week.

And finally, a quick mention for our cook Jill. The rice pudding this week was tremendous!
