Open day at animal sanctuary

Visitors can meet furred and feathered waifs and strays in need of a home when an animal rescue group holds its open day on Sunday, September 7.

The Thanet Animal Group's (TAG) event is about having fun and fund-raising in the charity’s 20th anniversary year.

It also offers supporters a chance to look behind the scenes at the centre at Lydden near Westwood Cross.

A fair kicks off at 10am and the sanctuary opens from 11am.

A highlight will be an auction of prizes around lunchtime including a memorabilia gift box donated by Chelsea Football Club.

There will be live entertainment from local '50s/60's family band This Little Girl.

A clairvoyant and crystal readings will be available.

Stalls will include a coconut shy, china smash, bottle tombola, jewellery, books, toys, cakes and gifts. There will also be a barbecue and refreshments.

TAG are appealing for donations of bottles, homemade cakes and jams and unwanted gifts, which can then be turned into cash to boost desperately needed funds.

There willl also be a pet food collection point for anyone wishing to donate animal food.
