Two people have been charged by police with attempting to supply drugs into Elmley Prison on the Isle of Sheppey.
A 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested at the home they shared in High Street, Herne Bay on Wednesday morning.
Labourer Jason Howsam and Zoe Spenser-Campbell, a former custody officer with Serco, were both charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs into HMP Elmley late on Wednesday night.
Both are due to appear before magistrates in Canterbury today.
It follows a joint investigation between Kent Police and the prisons security department. A police spokesman said 15 officers were involved in the investigation and arrests.
A second man also arrested on Wednesday morning was released without charge. Two residential properties in Herne Bay were also searched.
A Serco spokesperson said: "We are cooperating fully with Kent Police and this is now a police matter. One of the arrested individuals was a member of our staff who is no longer employed by the company."
