A man and a woman suffered serious injuries after a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Tunbridge Wells.

The accident happened at around 9.30pm Tuesday in Crescent Road.

The rider of Polish-registered Honda motorbike and his female pillion passenger were seriously hurt and taken to Kent and Sussex Hospital.

A police spokesman said the pair - who both live in Tunbridge Wells - were later transferred to hospital in London. The woman remains in a serious condition but the man is now described as stable.

A woman driving the blue Audi A6 involved was treated at the scene for shock.

The road was closed until 1am Wednesday while emergency services dealt with the incident.
